Painting levels
These are merely guidelines, every project is unique in its approach and result.
1 - Tournament
The fastest tier.
Most tournaments rules accept armies painted with at least 3 colours on miniatures.
Prominent colours and interesting transitions established by airbrush. Brush highlights and shading. Good balance between speed and quality.
Miniatures will look great on gaming tables.
2 - Tabletop
This tier is best when you want your models to look great on the table, but are still constrained by either budget or time available.
Every detail in the miniature will be painted with a few layered highlights and a shade in the recesses.
If desired, special effects such as mud, rust and blood can be used to make the miniatures more eye-catching whilst keeping the time investment manageable.
3 - Tabletop Plus
Further polish is added to the Tabletop painting level.
Every single detail is painted to a high standard and multiple colours are used across the whole miniature.
This is a good level for characters and centrepiece models. It is always a good idea to focus the most effort on your most favourite and best models, as these tend to attract the eye and will elevate the rest of the army to a higher standard.
This is the standard I prefer for my personal armies, which have spent more time on the painting table than on the battlefield.
Best I can
At this level, I will spend all the time and effort required to paint to my current highest standard.
While a bit of artistic freedom is always appreciated in these instances, I want to make sure you are thoroughly satisfied with the end-result. At this tier I will make sure to ask you plenty of questions to understand your vision and also invest as much of my own creativity as possible to ensure the most amazing result possible.
Assembly
Building and cleaning
Assembling and cleaning an entire army can take a very long time, but luckily I can help you with this.
You may choose to either send me the models, or have me purchase them for you. I will always seek the best possible price and show you the proof of purchase.
If you choose to have me build the models for you, I will remove all mould lines and fill gaps using small files, fine sanding paper, Milliput and Plastic Magic.
Kitbashing and convertions
If you want a unique model, I’m your man!
A large portion of my own collection is converted, from simple swaps of parts to more complex conversions involving sculpting or usage of unique materials.
Converting models might require the purchase of additional kits and I will discuss with you all possible options to keep the cost manageable.
If desired, I can offer rough sketches of various options, before we have to commit to a certain idea.
Basing
Often the bases have been already built by someone that sends me their army to paint. If that’s not the case or if I am sourcing the minis myself, I will texturize, paint and decorate the bases based on your desire.
Basic
Basic basing.
One main color for the entire base. Shade and highlight color, with a black trim, for example.
Simple and effective, often nothing more is necessary to make an army pop on the battlefield.
Examples. Simple desertic base, a muddy mire or plain city rubble.
Advanced
More advanced than the Basic base.
Tufts and secondary colours or more specific patterns are added, including possible special effect such as snow. If requested, specific bits like rubble, other battlefield detritus or the ubiquitous skull can be added here and there.
Examples. Desertic base with with cracked earth patches and some dry grass turfs. A muddy mire would get matching vegetation and different textures including some water effect puddles.
Elaborated
Multiple colours and more complex basing.
Fancy basing for fancy paintjobs.
It can involve lots of details laying around, multiple types of turfs and static grass or even sculpting.
Examples. Bases that require some sculpting, or a large amount of detail. A muddy mire base could have a mixture of ground, water effects, multiple skulls, 2 vegetation type and on the largest bases in the army a tentacle could be added, creeping out of the mud.
Enhancing existing armies
Sometimes we have armies or miniatures that are old but we just love them, those colours are the way we see them and we don’t want to lose that.
No problem, I can take an existing paint job and bring it to a new level of visual impact by doing some minimal adjustments, such as repainting specific areas or adding details to parts that look left out of the overall paint job, without repainting the entire miniatures.
Note on shipping, paint protection and packing
shipping
All parcels will be tracked and signed us using a reliable parcel service such as DPD or TNT.
All miniatures are packed separately and secured so the contents will not shake or become damaged during shipping. I use the available space as efficiently as possible in order to keep shipping costs down.
If you’ve had issues with specific delivery companies in your region, please inform me so we can look for a better alternative.
paint Protection
All the miniatures I paint, unless otherwise requested, receive a final layer of matt varnish to protect from handling damage and chipping.
I used a variety of varnishes in the years, from Citadel Munitorum Varnish to Vallejo Matt and Satin Varnish. Recently I’m set on Vallejo because I use them through the airbrush at various stages in between painting steps, to seal thinner layers, before applying acrylic or oil washes, etc.
Pricing
Price estimates
All price estimates are based on an internal reference pricelist which I use to make sure my pricing is consistent based on:
model complexity
model size
base size (for basing)
techniques requested
timeframe
However it is impossible to determine a precise, single cost, for a specific miniature. Let’s make the example of a Space Marine unit. One could be painted with glossy, clean armour, highlights and defined panels, another with scratched up and dirty armour. Or could be a simple metallic colour that covers 90% of the model or a complex 3 colours heraldry or yellow/red/black with silver trims.
All my estimates are broken down to you in phase of discussion when we agree to a project outlook and final price.
Discounts
New customers receive a 10% discount on their first order.
An additional 8% discount is applied to large projects with a total cost of over 1000£. The equivalent value in other currencies will be calculated upon moment of contact.
Cost of miniatures not included for discount purposes.
Payment fulfilment
Once an agreement for a project is reached I will forward you an initial invoice of 25% of the initial estimated price. The remaining amount and eventual additional costs should be paid at the project’s end, before final shipment happens.
Shipment
I use various couriers for the delivery and will always go with the signature and tracking option. This is a small but necessary overcharge on the shipping cost which makes the entire process much more secure.
